Holden Beach, NC — Residents woke up to major flooding the morning of Saturday, November 24th at Holden Beach today!
The above picture was taken on High Point Street Saturday morning, facing the canal.
The flooding was caused by an unusually high tide, combined with torrential rains that covered the area in the morning.
Many low-lying homes and yards were flooded from the rising waters.
Update: Town officials have released the following statement:
“This weekend’s low pressure storm coupled with abnormally high tides created flooding conditions under several homes on primarily the canal subdivisions’ streets. Lumberton, Scotch Bonnet, Tarpon and Sailfish to name a few, there may be more, were locations where high water under houses has been reported. You may wish to have your property inspected as soon as possible in order to minimize any adverse impacts that inundation may cause to your downstairs property.”
