Holden Beach Updates

Here is a brief update on significant events at Holden Beach along with links to more detailed information:

Inlet Hazard Area – the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) is moving forward with the dramatic expansion of the Inlet Hazard Areas on each end of our island.   This expansion will have significant impacts for property owners in these areas.  There is a final Public Hearing scheduled for May 3, 2022 at 11:00AM in the Brunswick County Government Complex – Council Chambers.  Click here for other Public Comment sessions.  You may also send written comments to the Division of Coastal Management, 400 Commerce Avenue, Morehead City, NC  28557.  The Comment period closes June 17, 2022.  After the Public Hearings the CRC will vote on whether to adopt the changes at their September 14-15 meeting.  Click here for additional information.

Bike Lanes – Bike lanes will be added to Ocean Boulevard when the road is resurfaced this fall.  The design adds seven feet of road surface on the south side of the road and three additional feet on the north side of the road creating a five-foot bike lane on each side of the road.  The work will all occur in the road right-of-way and will not impact the sidewalk.  The Town’s portion of the cost will be $723,393.  Click here for maps and additional information.

Paid Parking – Paid parking will be implemented from 9:00AM until 5:00 PM starting May 1st and running through October 31st.  Click here for a map of the parking  types and locations.  Click here for tips for property owners.

HBPOA Meeting – The next regular HBPOA meeting will be Saturday, May 28 at 10:00am.  The meeting will be held at the Holden Beach Chapel as Town Hall is still closed due to Covid.  We will be discussing the above topics and other issues.  Hope to see you there!
