Board of Commissioners – July 21, 2023 Meeting Recap
A public hearing/regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners was held on July 21st. The following actions were taken:
- A public hearing on Ordinance 23-12, An Ordinance Amending the Holden Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 157: Zoning Code (Lot Coverage) was held.
- Chief Dixon reviewed the Police Report.
- Inspections Director Evans gave the Inspections Department monthly report. He provided an update on current projects and information on the Community Rating System evaluation.
- The Board approved Ordinance 23-12 and the corresponding Statement of Consistency.
- The Board agreed that no further action is required from the Planning & Zoning Board on the pierhead alignment directive. There are regulations in place through the Department of Coastal Management.
- The Board asked Inspections Director Evans to develop an ordinance concerning accessory uses for the Board to review.
- A public hearing to hear comments on the 2023 – 2024 Public Beach and Waterfront Access Grant (Block Q) was scheduled for Tuesday, August 15th at 5:00 p.m.
- The Board agreed to move ahead with funding for the Sewer Lift Station #2 Project since the station is an extremely critical asset to the Town in terms of health, public safety and the dynamics of a tourism driven economy.
- Members were selected to fill vacancies on the Board of Adjustment, Planning & Zoning Board and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
